What is online advertising and how can schools actually use it?
Paid online advertising is a digital marketing strategy where advertisers pay a fee each time their ad is clicked (also known as Pay-Per-Click or PPC). These targeted ads appear on search engines, social media platforms, and network of partner websites.
For schools, PPC advertising means the ability to quickly reach families who are actively searching for educational options, driving immediate visibility and engagement. Schools can strategically promote open houses, admissions deadlines, and other recruitment events right when prospective parents and students are looking for information.
With PPC, schools can target specific demographics, such as location, age range, and even interests, making their advertising budget go further by focusing on the right audience.
Additionally, PPC campaigns provide valuable data, offering insights into which messages resonate best and allowing for continuous improvement in attracting families.
What are the different types of ads?
For school marketers, understanding the different types of online ads is key to reaching the right families at the right time. From capturing the attention of those actively searching for educational options to re-engaging past visitors, ads like paid search, social, display, and retargeting can help drive inquiries and boost enrollment efforts.
Paid Search Ads
Text-based ads that appear at the top of search engine results (also beside, or sometimes below) when users search for specific keywords, designed to drive immediate visibility and clicks on platforms like Google and Bing
Social Paid Ads
Targeted ads on social media platforms use audience demographics and interests to engage users with visually appealing content. These ads appear on various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (X), and LinkedIn
Remarketing or Retargeting Ads
Specifically target users who have already interacted with your website or content, such as visiting a page, with the goal of re-engaging them and encouraging conversion. Retargeting uses cookies or tracking pixels to deliver tailored ads to these users
Display Ads
Display ads are banner, image or text ads shown across websites within an ad network, aiming to build brand awareness and attract potential customers. These ads often appear in various sizes and formats and are strategically placed on Google’s partner websites

The module follows Google guidelines and adds FAQ schema.
